Final Post of the Semester!

  I disagree with all of the arguments made against children’s literature  (especially argument number nine). Argument number nine states that  children and Young Adult lit  entail   “ silly and simple-minded stuff about dating and trivia like that? ” First of all ,  I personally wouldn’t consider dating and trivia to be simple-minded  stuff .  It is all stuff that we all will face at some point in our lives so it is a good thing to gain knowledge on . Plus, I do not know a single person   (both young and old) who does not like to read about dating and trivia.  Both of these activities are a time of questions and discovery that helps our brains gather  information . And what  i s  so  bad about reading  about dating and trivia?     For this question, I am going to be arguing the  book  Brown  Girl Dreaming.  The school board would say something along the lines  of “ Why have kid...

Rite Of Passage~ Taking Care Of Yourself On Your Own

I chose Taking Care of Yourself as a rite of passag e because I feel that  nobody is really an adult until you must do things in life on your own.  An adult to me is some who  accepts responsibility, makes independent decisions, and becomes financially independent.   A little reminder :)   A series of tests that the youngster must accomplish in order to become an  adult   Cooking for yourself - can you make more than just ramen noodles for yourself? Can you make healthy and  nutritious  meals?   Cleaning your house -  can you keep a clean living  environment? This also helps with your personal health as well.   Doing Laundry - do you know how to start & stop the washing and drying machine? Do you know where to put the  detergent?  Do  you know how to empty the lint trap on your dryer?   Paying your own bills - do you know how to budget so you have money left for food and other  necessities...
